Maldives consists of 1,190 islands of which only 200 are inhabited. Most people go to Maldives to relax and unwind which is understandable giving how relaxing the atmosphere is, but there’s definitely more to it than just that. If you enjoy scuba diving then the Maldives Victory shipwreck and the shark filled Fish Head area are interesting places to go. The capital of Male’ is also full of things to do ranging from fishing to the National Museum. Male’s is considered one of the world’s smallest capitals too.

A private picnic on a sandbank is one of the most relaxing experiences you can have. You simply sit back and relax on the beach as you enjoy your pre-ordered picnic consisting of lobster, cheeses, champagne, and more. If you’re someone who can’t relax for too long then by all means go ahead and visit Hanifaru bay which is UNESCO protected. The area is full of marine life thanks to the huge amounts of plankton that washes in and in turn attracts even bigger fish to feed. It’s a perfect spot to snorkel and dive as you enjoy the colorful reef, tortoises, and even stingrays.

You can enjoy an underwater spa date which is a unique experience in the Maldives at Huvafen Fushi as you receive treatment surrounded by glass walls looking out into the beautiful ocean and the marine life it contains. A tradition dhoni sunset cruise is also a lovely experience for families as you set out in a traditional Maldivian boat enjoying the view and looking out for dolphins that might put on a show for you and your loved ones if you’re lucky.

Thulhaadhoo is the place to go if you want to immerse yourself into Maldivian culture. Locals refer to it as the “home” island. There you can experience Maldivian culture fully if the hotel and resort experience isn’t enough for you. You can also experience Mas Huni which is a Maldivian breakfast dish made of chopped tuna, coconut, chili, and onion.

If you’re a party animal and want to dance off the stress then Finolhu in Baa Atoll is the place for you. It is a famous spot that attracts world famous DJs and sometimes hosts three day parties throughout the year on its one kilometer beach. You’ll also find restaurants that serve the best seafood including crab tacos.

The Maldives are a beautiful place to be and you’re guaranteed to find something to suit your taste especially if you’re someone who enjoys new experiences and cultures.
